Safe Infant Sleeping Information sessions for grandparents and older carers
SIDS and Kids SA has designed information sessions for grandparents and older carers who are interested in learning more about the safe sleep message and the current recommended guidelines for safe infant sleeping.
Time & Location
03 May 2018, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Tea Tree Gully Community Learning Centre, 571 Montague Rd, Modbury SA 5092, Australia
About The Event
The safe sleep recommendations have changed significantly over the past 25-30 years with changes to recommended sleeping position for baby, the type of bedding used and the types of products recommended.
The information in the sessions will help grandparents and older carers to make informed decisions about:
• how they choose to sleep baby
• what types of products they may want to use, and
• how to create a safe sleeping environment for baby
Unfortunately, each year a number of infant deaths are related to unsafe sleeping environments and attending one of these information sessions is a great way to get informed. There are so many nursery products on the market that expectant grandparents can be left feeling overwhelmed. The market is swamped with products to choose from, so it is best for everyone to consider all the information and options so they can make the best decision for baby. There is a common misconception that if you can buy a product it is safe to use. This is not always the case.
The sessions provide new and expectant grandparents with plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
We gratefully acknowledge the City of Tea Tree Gully for their grant enabling this session to take place.
