THE JOURNEY OF GRIEF

THE JOURNEY OF GRIEF

"Parents’ immediate reactions to their baby or child’s death may be shock, disbelief, a sense of numbness or unreality."

The death of a child is an unbelievable and unacceptable traumatic event. The natural expectations, hopes and dreams for your child have been shattered.

It is important to understand these feelings you are experiencing, although very frightening and intense, are normal expressions of your love and sense of loss.  They are a natural reaction to the sadness and enormity of this tragedy.  Grief does not flow along a linear path nor does grief acknowledge a right or wrong way through the rollercoaster of emotions your journey will take you.  Men and women will grieve differently with their own intensity of emotions.

Counselling cannot take away the pain, loss or isolation you are experiencing.  It can however, assist your family in the search for meaning and survival.
